I didn't watch the first episode of the new series. I was too busy working on Fortressbusters stuff. So, what did everyone think of it?

Re: The Return of Doctor Who
Watching it in a bit, was out, had it recorded.

First off, I really quite like the new Doctor, his accent seems a little odd, like the old one's with some words, and completely different with others, will get used to that over time I guess
Secondly, they seem to have set themselves up for a properly good series this time around as well, most of the epic stuff looks out in the open, so to speak, with spitfires in space, britain being a floating island in space, british daleks, lots of pretty cool stuff, nice to see it's all british for once and not american, but equally, kinda sinister. As I say, good setup for a good background plot that gets a big reveal as well as the "day to day" episodes.
Of course, it was somewhat over the top, in parts, but I really don't care, if anyone whines about that they have no tolerance, if anything it lent a certain charm to the episode.
Oh, and the Dr's new assistant? As well as being pretty good lookin', seemed to have a lot of depth as well, just like Rose in the original series. I especially liked the "be back in 5 minutes" - which took 12 years, and then it happening again. All seemed natural, realistic, and deep, from her character.
So basically, awesome.

Cloud said it all pretty much.
That camera whoosh thing in the village green when everyone was taking photos of the sun was shit though. I hope they don't do that again.

Re: The Return of Doctor Who
It was better than I expected. The last episode it seemed like he was trying too hard to be David Tennant, but this time it was OK. And I agree on the village green thing, that was just... blargh.

Re: The Return of Doctor Who
I really liked the village green thing. It might be a one time gimmick thing, but I thought they did it pretty well. When I saw the first 2 minutes before the titles, I thought it was going to be crap. The TARDIS crashing special effects really sucked. I know it's low budget, but every else seemed to be fine. Nice assistant too. Coming soon episodes don't look like they'll work. The Doctor firing a gun? That's one of the basic things he doesn't do! Episode rating: 7/10

I noticed the gun thing too. There'll have to be some serious shit going on to make him do that.
